Supporting Families Through Pediatric Cancer Care
Saving Smiles Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in April 2017 by Dr. Lowe, alongside Dr. Joseph Meluni and Dr. Lawrence Nguyen. Our mission is to support children and families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer by ensuring access to essential dental care and providing meaningful assistance during an incredibly difficult time.
Saving Smiles was inspired by the loss of a close friend and high school teammate to a rare form of brain cancer in 2015. Through this personal experience, Dr. Lowe witnessed firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial burdens families endure when a child is diagnosed with cancer. That experience became the foundation for Saving Smiles and its commitment to easing some of those burdens—no matter how small they may seem.
When a child is battling cancer, dental health is often overlooked as families focus on treatment, recovery, and survival. However, oral health is especially critical for children undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. With weakened immune systems, even minor dental issues can lead to serious complications. Saving Smiles exists to ensure that necessary dental care is not another source of stress for families already facing so much.
Since its founding, Saving Smiles has helped dozens of families by covering dental treatment costs, assisting with accommodations during hospital stays, and organizing holiday toy drives to bring moments of comfort, hope, and joy. We are proud to collaborate with impactful organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the P.U.N.T. Foundation, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, and Jessa’s Quest.
Looking ahead, Saving Smiles is committed to expanding its reach and impact, including plans to launch an annual charity golf tournament to raise funds and support even more children and families in need.
If you or someone you know is navigating pediatric cancer, we are here to help. Our mission is simple: to support families, protect children’s health, and bring smiles during life’s hardest moments.
